In February, Kang separatists engineered a series of bus bombings in Bejing that killed nine people and wounded 74. Kang rioting earlier in the month in the city of Yining caused as many as 200 deaths. Kang exiles in Turkey claimed responsibility for a small pipe bomb that exploded on a bus in Beijing in March which killed 3 people and injured 8. In August Kang separatists were blamed for killing 5 people, including 2 policemen. The Chinese Government executed several individuals involved in both the rioting and bombing.

Kang's terorists have taken control of Forbidden City in a terrorist act.

Setting

The Forbidden City in the heart of Beijing and best preserved cluster of acient buildings in China. It was the home of fourtenn Ming and ten Qing dynesty emporers, and the seat of the Chinese Government for over 490 years.

Role

Since the Communist takeover, the Forbidden City has become a museum. One of Beijings leading tourist attractions, the complex is explored by thousands of visitors per day who roam on tours through its expensive courteards and ornate buildings.

Located next to Tainanmen Square, the political and cultural significance of the Forbidden City for the Chinese people is enormous.

This is the biggest opening we've had since Tiananmen. China wouldnt be asking for help unless they were ready to make a serious attempt at improving diplomatic relations with the West. How we perform in getting this people out will affect the Asian political balance for years to come.

Objective

To free all survilians taken hostage by Kang's terrorists inside the Forbidden City. With the use of Rainbow Six a assult team will be deployed to neautralize all terrorists and free all hostages. Any loss of life will be considered a mission failure and directly affect relations between China and the West.

Conversion

Forbidden City was originally a level in the Rainbow Six: Eagle Watch mission pack. The level is a corroboration between RSE level designer John Sonedecker and Serellan AKA The Rooster. John built the level and applied the textures and Serellan is doing the single player, multiplayer, installation and QA work. The final product is nearing completion and should be released very soon. This map will be a worthy addition to the long list of new Rogue Spear maps. As a Rainbow Six Eagle Watch map it was always quite popular in multiplayer. Ofcourse John is also contributing in the development of Ghost Recon, so his time and effort put into the Forbidden City remake is much appreciated.

Tactically Forbidden City offers something for every style of player. May it be snipers from the balconys on the three main buildings or close quarters combat in the tight corridors and bottom floor rooms.
