1.  Pie's Tactics has posted a review of Mission Pack: Deadly Protocol.  Read it here.  Here is a clip:

It packs in nearly every major project The Rooster
has put together and really is an example of how single player mods should be
put together: seamless installation, original missions, new map textures, and
                          terrific voice-overs.

2.  I have finished 99% of the work for the Deadly Protocol v1.2 patch, all that is left is to test the co-op missions.  If you have any last minute bug reports, post them at the Forums!

3.  MMI has announced that TAOW: Japan is close to completion.  Check out the news at MMI's page.

1.  I've finished work on The Rooster's 50 Tangos for Urban Ops, which will allow you to play all of the original RS maps with 50 Tangos in Terrorist Hunt.  Get this 143k file here.

2.  I am finishing up the patch for Deadly Protocol's minor bugs, and then I will complete by Nato3 add-on.  It keeps getting bigger, but the small weapons mod will be done soon!

3.  I've updated the Fun/Actions page with more neat screenshots.

1.  Recently there has been some confusion at The Zone about the Tango Skins Mod for UO affecting people's ability to join non-modded games.  As long as you are running the UO version of TSM, the files overwritten will not stop you from joining other games.  In fact, you will see no change in play at all.
I would rather have no overwritten any files, but a bug in the mod system for UO forces me to for this mod to work properly.  However, as a client you can still join non-modded games.  If you are a host, and have the mod activated, everyone joining the game must have the mod installed.  But at 44k, it is a pretty quick DL!  Please, spread the word and help dispel this myth!

2.  The patch for Mission Pack: Deadly Protocol is coming along, as well as The Rooster's N3 Weapons add-on.

3.  My e-mail is back up, but I think some of the replies I sent out may not have gone through.  If you sent me an email asking for a reply, and I didn't get back to you, try again!

4.  Mekhazzio posted this hilarious list of "You know you've played RS too much/not enough" on the RSE Forums:
You know you haven't played enough when...
      * ...you don't know what HK stands for
      * ...you don't know what MP5 stands for
      * ...you don't CARE what they stand for (heretic!)
      * ...you wonder what that gray square on the floor is...
      * ...you find out what it is (oops :)
      * ...you never knew you could have more than one operative in single player
      * ...what's single player?
      * ...you think Killhouse is a great map
      * ...you get lost in the Cherkasy Nuclear Power Plant
      * ...you get lost in Chalet
      * ...you get lost in City Street Large (It's too large!)
      * ...you think anyone that talks about the game is "whining".
      * ...you wonder why anyone would want to walk
      * ...you think the M82 makes a great close-combat weapon

And you know you've played too much when...
      * ...you can actually use the M82 as a great close-combat weapon
      * ...you wonder why anyone would want to run
      * ...you wonder why you can't touch a door, back up, and open it from 5 feet away
      * ...you tell your boss to switch maps
      * ...you refer to before-coffee morning time as "being lagged"
      * ...someone opens a door nearby you and you wonder why it didn't make a loud ratchety noise
      * ...you plot out assault waypoints upon visiting anyplace new
      * ...you scream and cringe upon noticing a gray shape on the floor and hide behind the furniture before realizing
      its a sock
      * ...your only responses to everyone are "Check!" or "Cannot comply, sir"
      * ...you wonder why you just can't pick any locks without equipment. Waving your hands at it always worked
      before!
      * ...you can't sit down to watch TV for long because you always get the creeping feeling that you're 'camping'
      * ...you cuss your friends out in Russian
      * ...when you critique the weapon choice in a TV/movie
      * ...when you critique the attack pattern in a TV/movie
      * ...you can ID any weapon in any TV/movie
      * ...and when your friends give you strange looks for it
      * ...and when your friends give you strange looks when you CAN'T do it
      * ...when you find yourself developing a strange crush on (Ding Chavez/Renee Raymond/both)
      * ...when you think Nuclear Power Plant is a great map

and lastly, the #1 sign you've played Rainbow 6/Rogue Spear too much...
      * ...you flashbang your cat!

1.  One day until summer solstice!  Tomorrow will be the longest day of the year, a big deal up here in Alaska.  After tomorrow the days start getting shorter again.

2.  My Host, Rogue Spear News, needs staff!  If you ever wanted to be a news poster or co-webmaster, contact Rip to sign up.  RSN has potential, but needs people!

3.  I am working on a patch for Mission Pack: Deadly Protocol. Issues currently identified are:

Skybox in Desert Mountain MP Map
Door opens by itself on JB2 Map
Black Widow Tango Hunt locks some tangos outside
DL06 is available in Custom before mission is complete
DL06 is mislabeled "CL05", putting it out of order in the mission list
                      Co-op Missions not working properly
Lone Wolf missions allow 8 Operatives
Readme should include Paladin06's Install help

Also the patch will contain a patch for The Rooster's Skins, fixing some texture problems and updating the Urban Tiger uniform into a "cleaner" version that can be seen here.  As a bonus I will probably include the "50 Tango's for RS T-Hunt" mod, allowing you to play all of the old RS maps with 50 tangos.

If you have found any other bugs in DP, please let me know, as this will probably be the final patch for the mission pack.  As my e-mail is still down, please post any bug reports in this thread.

1.  I just got back from camping yesterday when my mail server went down, so be patient on getting those responses!  Hopefully I wont lose any mail.  In the mean time, you can always get a hold of me in the Forums.

2. It looks like the people want The Rooster's N3 Weapons and the Tango Skins SPE more than the others, remember to place your vote here and let me know what YOU want!

3.  Updated the Fun/Action Screenshots page, adding some more interesting shots from my LAN games.

June 14, 2000

1.  The response to Mission Pack: Deadly Protocol has been wonderful!  Thanks to everyone who has sent in feedback.  It looks like this will be my most popular mod to date.

2.  Some people are having a problem starting single player in Mission Pack: Deadly Protocol, even after making sure they have version 1.01 loaded.  Paladin06 posted this fix that has so far worked for everyone who tried it:

If you followed the install instructions to the letter and it's still crashing, try this.

                      1. Start UO and enter options screen.
                      2. Select mods and deactivate all mods.
                      3. Select and activate Roosters mod.
                      4. Exit UO and return to your desktop.
                      5. Reenter UO, options, mods and ensure Roosters mod is still active.
                      6. Go to the single play and get ready for some real fun and damn good work for the
                      Rooster.

Now you should be ready to play UO with Roosters best.

June 12, 2000

1.  The installer for Mission Pack: Deadly Protocol has been replaced.  For those of you who were waiting to get it, go for it!  Also, I have posted up a "Four Pack" installer for those of you with less stable internet connections.  Grab it here!

June 11, 2000

1. There is a problem with the Mission Pack: Deadly Protocol installer, it did not pick up the empty folders needed to run the campaign. Until I can update the install program, I have posted a patch. Get the patch here.

June 10, 200

1.  I finally got it uploaded!  Mission Pack: Deadly Protocol is now available for download!  Get it here!

June 9, 2000
1.  Well, it seems that someone doesn't want me to release this mod! So far I have tried uploading it 5+ times, and I even zipped it on to disk & brought it to work. Of course when I got here the .zip was corrupted, so that was more time wasted. The final solution?  Tonight I am hooking up to my LAN, and my buddy has a CD burner. I am going to burn the mod, and saturday morning drive into work, and upload it from my T1. How dedicated it that?  Again, sorry about the problems, I know a lot of people have been waiting for this (I've been getting about 5 emails a day since Tues...).

2.  Sputnik has released version 6.2 of his weapons mod.  Check out the details here.

June 7, 2000

1.  Mission Pack: Deadly Protocol is complete!  Unfortunately, I am having problems getting the large file uploaded to my server, so it may be a couple of days before it will be available for download.  Here is the "official" release I will be sending when the upload is complete:

Finally, a mod to rival the commercial releases!  Mission Pack: Deadly Protocol is the
newest, largest, and most ambitious mod from The Rooster to date. Included in the
                      pack:

                      - A six-mission campaign with a cohesive story line. My old missions like you've never
seen the before, with more tangos, totally redone briefings with TWO voice briefs
each (who is this new "Control"?). Plus never before seen tangos! And girls with
                      RPDs!

-Nine stand alone missions, playable from the Custom Missions menu. Included are
both Terrorist Hunt and Lone Wolf versions of the campaign missions, plus an all new
Training Mission & Map. This gives you a total of 15 new single player missions to
conquer, some with up to 50 tangos each!

                      - Six retextured Maps, four of which are playable in multiplayer.

                      - 58 Skins, including all of the skins from The Rooster's Skins and the Tango Skins
Mod. These are available in Multiplayer & Custom Missions.

                      - 18 Host/Client Multiplayer missions, using the new re-textured maps & bulletproof
                      objects!

                      - 44 Host Only Maps, including the RS Maps that got me started in Modding, plus
new starts for most UO playing spaces.

                      - And MORE!

All of this is wrapped up in a handy install program that will have you playing minutes
after download. This Map Pack should be compatible with all UO-Compliant Weapon
mods, (tested with Nato3). If you enjoy RS/UO, this mod is for you!

I am in the process of uploading to my server now, it should be up around 5:30 am
                      Pacific. Check at:

-LOOK FOR LINK HERE WHEN UPLOAD COMPLETE-

The download file is 25 Megs, and the entire mod is 64 megs after install. 128 Megs
of free space is required for the install (swap files).

2.  Based on the poll results, I've included the two skin mods with the Mission Pack.  I did keep them set up as different mods after install, so you don't have to have them all on at once.

June 2, 2000

1.  The release of the mission pack will be delayed until tuesday, sorry folks, beta turned up some issues I need to clean up.  So the new "official" release date is June 6th, 2000.

June 1, 2000

1.  I am closing The Rooster's Nest Forums, in favor of my new section at the Pie's Tactics Forums.  I am in the process of updating the links, and I will delete the old forum next week.  Because Pie's is also an EZ-Board, you should not need to re-register.  Stop by my new forum now.

2.  The way the vote is going, The Rooster's Skins & the Tango Skins Mod will be included with the upcoming mission pack.  Let me know what YOU think about it now.

3.  All of my mods are now mirrored at Pie's Tactics, so if you ever have a problem getting them here, check out Serellan's Mod Section.

4. RS Retreat is hosting the site for a new mod, Zombie War.  This one looks amusing, take a look here.
