1. Well, the
time has arrived. This weekend I pack up some things and Monday I
start the drive from Phoenix, AZ to Morrisville, NC. Wish me
luck!

2. I have
updated the Downloads section to reflect the fact that I will not be
releasing any Raven Shield mods, and added a small preview I found
to the Awards section.
3. Copies of
Take Down on ebay have been VERY popular. I will not be relisting
any any time soon, but if you want your own full, legal copy, email me.

1. I saw my
name mentioned in the Gamespy news mail last night. I have to say,
it is quite a shock to be skimming through gaming news and see your
name mentioned under "Industry Buzz".
2. In my
last post, there were some very special people I forgot thank for my
recent opportunities.
First off,
Red Storm Entertainment and all of the staff there, John Sonedecker
in particular.
Next, my
Alaska LAN crew buddies: Eliot "Arctic Paladin", Ryan "T100", Scott
"Spetznaz", Clint "Robocop", Blaine "Trent", Mikey "Thanatos", Jason
"I Forgot ", and Kevin
"AKkaz".
Lastly, my
wife of seven years, Angie, who nagged, prodded, and generally
kicked my butt until I got to where I wanted to be. Thanks, babe!

1. I'm
honored to announce that I have accepted an Assistant Designer
position at Red
Storm Entertainment. I really can't express the emotions of
seeing years of work pay off, only that I can't stop whistling the
"Rocky" theme.
I would like
to thank the community for their support over the years, which has
allowed me to get where I am today. A special thanks goes out to the
guys at The Wargamer, Pie's Tactics, ARMM, RS Retreat, RS Database,
Aggression, and also Mother-May-I, Rodion, Cynical Saint, Drew Baye,
Mike Schell, and everyone else I have worked with over the past few
years.
I plan to
leave The Nest up and running, although I'm not sure how much
updating will be done, and I doubt I'll be adding any new mods in
the foreseeable future.
Thanks again
for all of your support!

completed an interview with the Sum of
All Fears development team. Read the interview at The

1. I have
completely redone the Download
section. I organized the separate mods by the game they are made
for, and fixed all the broken links. All files are now hosted by RSR's File Retreat. I also provided links to the
patches for each game. If you find any broken links, please let me know.
2. The
Commando Monkey Brigade mod is in final Beta! Feedback from the Beta
testers has been overwhelmingly positive, and the mod is online for
release within the next week. One Beta tester said "It's like BSW,
only cooler and better done!" Check out some new screenshots from
the mod HERE!

1. Due to a
lack of financial support, Pie's Tactics has been forced to shut down the File Archive, what was the largest and most
comprehensive mod source in the R6/GR community. Due to this
shutdown, many of my mods links are currently not working. I am in
the process of fixing my links, and getting the rest of my files
hosted at FilePlanet and FileRetreat. Please be
patient, and if you need to get a hold of a mod that has a broken
link, just email me. If you think that Ubi Soft should
support the mod community by sponsoring this archive, email them and let them know!
2. Now that
the PT archive is down, I have gotten a lot of emails regarding R6: Take Down, and how to obtain the patch &
installation manual. You can get the patch HERE, and read the installation .doc HERE. I also have limited copies of this game
available for order, if you are interested, read the review HERE, and then email me.

3. To make
things easier on fledgling modders, I have split up the FAQ at my
forum into two sections, based on the RS and GR engines. Check it
out at the FORUMS.

1. A great
member of our community, Jameel Alkadhimi, aka "Hellknight",
formerly of UMM and RSD, has passed away. I had the honor of working
with Hellknight on RLTC, and sharing emails and information over the
past two years. I would like to send my condolences to his family
and offer thanks for the entire community for his contributions.
Pie's Tactics has posted an on-line memorial, you can view it HERE. Flowers and cards can be sent to:

1. Raven Shield
was awarded a Best of Show Award by The Wargamer.
Check it out, along with the writeup done by yours truly, right HERE.
2. The Commando Monkey Brigade mod is progressing, and
nearing beta stage. This mod looks to be a lot of over-the-top fun,
with Commando Monkeys, Ninjas, Trolls, weilding automatic grenade
launchers, nailguns, suitcase nukes, and a host of other outrageous
and deadly weapondry. Check out details HERE.

1. E3 has
come and gone again, and I had a blast, as usual. I got to spend
some quality time with John Sonedecker and Greg Stelmack from RSE,
and Patrick Naud and Chadi Lebbos from Ubisoft Montreal, talking
about the new R6 titles, as well as all of the other fun things you
do at E3. Now I just have to do about a hundred write-ups and
articles . Here are some
pictures of my adventures over the last week:

1. Well, I
guess I lied on my last entry .
Anyways, some things coming out this week, so stay tuned.
2. I have
purchased some copies of Kama Digital Entertainment's Rainbow Six: Take
Down. If you are interested in obtaining a copy, email me. This week, I
published an Installation Manual for the game, wrote a review for
Pie's Tactics, and released a small weapons mod for it. Read the
review HERE, and check out the mod HERE!

3. Some fun
things are coming up, including my second annual trip to E3 with the guys
from The
Wargamer and Pie's Tactics. It looks to be another fun
conference, and I look forward to stalking, er, chatting with the RSE crew. Also,
some of the guys from the PT forums are putting together a little
fun mod, Command Monkey Brigade. Some over-the-top weapons, fun
uniforms, and wacky terrorists will make this little baby a good
laugh (and if you havn't fired a 40mm grenade launcher at 1000 RPM,
you havn't had a good laugh!). Watch for news here. TOTTv3 has been
delayed, again. CK and some of the other team have other
commitments, so it is basically down to me and Drew Baye, and both
of us have pretty busy schedules. We do plan on releasing it though,
so keep a look out.

1. I
am back in full swing, and the site should be updated more often
now. Hopefully I am done with deployments for a while, so I
hope to get some work done.
2. TOTT v3 for UO is
nearing completion, and it looks to be a great mod. Weapons,
skins, recticles, and a new interface will round out this great
mod. Here is a picture of some of the new skins made by myself
& Drew Baye (click
on the image for a larger version):

3. I
want to send out congrats to Lloyd for his transition from
a Modder to a proffesional game maker. Kudos and good luck in
the industry.

1. HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'm happy to see The
Rooster's Nest coming up to it's 2 year anniversary (officially Jan.
16th), and I want to thank everyone who has supported me over the
years. I really can't believe I have been involved with this great
community for so long now, and all of you; the RSE Developers
(especially John, Greg, and Gary), the Fan Site webmasters &
staff (especially Pie, Snicker, Veritable), the forum goers (Mike,
Festamus, Spec_Ops, Pit, Korn), the other modders (Rodion, CS, MMI,
Gravedigga, Q, and all you guys), and the regular players who
download and (hopefully) enjoy my mods; all of you have helped me
out and supported me at one time or another, THANK YOU! I raised my
glass to the community at 12:00 on the 1st. However, the biggest
thanks has to go to my wife, Angie. Without her support, I would
have never stuck with this (or much else in my life).
2. For those
of you who emailed me regarding downloads not working, thanks. I
have remedied the situation by changing the links of files to
mirrors at File Retreat and Pie's Tactics Archive. Thanks to RSR and Pie's Tactics
for the support and file hosting! I also rearranged the download
section, adding a Collaborative
Mods section, and retiring some out of date mods.
3. RLTC is
out! The largest mod ever for RS/UO is finally done, and you can
read all about it HERE!
4. For most
of the month of January, I will probably be unavailable. I am
pulling another activation with the National Guard, this time
providing security for the Winter Olympics in Utah. I'm not sure if
I will have any net access while I am gone, but hopefully (if
everything goes smooth), I will be back in early February. I also
purchased a laptop so I can finish up work on my map project for UO
in my spare time, I hope to have it completed by the time I
return. |
